We carry our own line of beautifully hand-crafted dulcimers as well as our
backpack dulcimers and canjos.

We take pride in offering our customers the best quality at an affordable price. We have several dulcimers for you to choose from and also accept custom orders. All of our woods (solid wood, never plywood) are hand picked and chosen for the best sound and appearance. We also try to incorporate new designs in order to provide the best tone and most volume possible in all our instruments.

History of the fretted dulcimer

The dulcimer is believed to originate from the Appalachian Mountains of southern Pennsylvania. It is in the same family of instruments as the German "zither" or "schietholt." The traditional dulcimer is known as a mountain dulcimer, Appalachian Dulcimer, and lap dulcimer. It comes in various shapes such as hourglass, teardrop, and rectangular (known as the Tennessee Music Box). Here at Echo Hollow Dulcimers, we enjoy offering a variety of shapes and sound holes along with a nice selection of solid woods in order to provide you with a nice sounding and beautiful instrument!.
